Several of our 8th grade ELA classes took some time before the holiday break to speed through a few good books. Students had a chance to spend 90 seconds with a book before passing it on to the next person. There were no set rules - students could read the back, the summary, a few pages, or even the first chapter, if time allowed. This was a fun and quick way to dive into a variety of books and many left with new novels to read over break. Many students were surprised to find that they were immediately sucked into a few books that they said they wouldn't have otherwise picked up. What good books have you found lately?

This month's Wonder Wednesday was a bit unique, as it fell on our half-day before the holiday break. For the month of December, we learned about vinyl cutters and how they are used worldwide by individuals and companies for products small and large. Students then had an opportunity to try their hand at crafting their own monogrammed items and learned a bit about the history of monograms. We had nearly 70 makers stop by to craft their own creations this month!
