Students had a great time reviewing the books they read at our October TLC meeting today, and had a chance to work on a few fun activities!
All TLC members are asked to review their November books in Destiny Quest before coming to next month's meeting.

Are you a fan of spooky stories? Check out our Hauntingly Good display in the fiction section for some great scary recommendations! From R.L. Stine to Poe to Gaiman, there is something for everyone ... which is your favorite?
We also had the incredibly difficult job of choosing a winner for our Book Pumpkin contest today. Everyone did such a wonderful job on their pumpkins - it was a very hard choice! Congratulations to our three winners:
Congratulations also to our three honorable mentions:
We enjoyed choosing the next book for the media center today with our Instabook activity. Students were able to visit during lunch and "like" their favorite new or upcoming release. The big winner was certainly Shadows of the Clans, a Warrior Cat book, with Auggie & Me coming in as a close second. We will soon be purchasing both of these books for the media center ... look for them in the coming weeks! Winners of our Book Pumpkin contest will be announced tomorrow afternoon ... stay tuned! We had a great turn out for today's Book Pumpkin activity. We saw Harry Potter, Warrior Cat characters, Hugo Cabret, Legend, the Cat in the Hat, and many others! Many students also returned today to continue their work on book ends ... they're looking great! Don't forget to stop by tomorrow and cast your vote in our Instabook activity, where you'll be able to choose the next books added to the media center. Students are also welcome to continue the work they've started on their pumpkins! A winner will be chosen Thursday afternoon. Students enjoyed creating their own Book End Art today during the first day of Teen Read Week. We had some super creative and unique creations ... can't wait for these to decorate our shelves! Don't forget to stop by tomorrow as we begin decorating our Book Pumpkins in continued celebration of Teen Read Week. Students can bring their own foam pumpkin from home, or can bring $1.00 to purchase one in the media center. Decorating supplies will be provided. Students have until Thursday at lunch to submit their pumpkin in order to be eligible for our Book Pumpkin contest. Homerooms have been hard at work decorating their spaces to celebrate the Read Your Way to the Big Game competition. While we may be a school divided on the Carolina vs. Clemson issue, we can all agree that our Mustangs have some serious talent and love a great book! It was very difficult to choose a winner, but the following homerooms helped earn their teams a few extra points toward the coveted Mustang Cup ... (winner announcement coming soon!)
Our Read Your Way to the Big Game competition is well under way at this point, and we are so excited to see all of the awesome decorations going up around the school! Not sure what to do? Just read any 6 books between now and November, choose your side (USC or Clemson), have a parent or guardian sign your form, and turn it in to your homeroom teacher. Your form will enter you to win tickets to the Palmetto Bowl! Once you've submitted your form, watch for your name to be posted on the windows outside the media center and keep track of how each team is stacking up. Clemson is winning right now, but I know my Gamecocks are right behind them! And don't forget ... teams with the most books read and best decorated doors can also win points toward the House Cup competition. Students can count Pay it Forward, so everyone already has one book toward their total! So which team will you choose?
