Our 8th graders had a great time commemorating the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth and death yesterday in the media center! Each class had a chance to rotate through a number of fun stations, including a chalk message station, a Shakespeare style Minute-to-Win-It game, a Rap Lyric or Shakespeare Line challenge, a photo booth area, and of course everyone's favorite ... birthday cake.

The Tween Library Council had a blast participating in the South Carolina Read-In yesterday along with 2,300 other South Carolina students. We had a great time advocating for school libraries, representing our school, and reading on the lawn of the State House.
All rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are cordially invited to tomorrow evening's SMS Literacy Night as we kickoff summer reading in a big way! Families will have the opportunity to visit sessions featuring student-led book talks on all 19 of your summer reading options, play games, purchase summer reading books and visit our book fair, enjoy an ice cream sundae bar, and more! We look forward to seeing you there!
